The Best Beaches in Norfolk

February 3, 2021

Belle Aire is the perfect base for exploring the beautiful beaches that Norfolk has to offer. Whether you want to wander up the road to bask in the golden sands of Hemsby Beach, take the dog for a walk up to Winterton Beach, or head over to Horsey for some sealwatching, our holiday park is the ideal jumping off point for a beach holiday in Norfolk.

Hemsby Beach

Not only is Hemsby beach one of the most beautiful beaches in the region, it is almost unique in having the Hemsby Inshore Rescue Service, based on Hemsby Beach, making it also one of the safest.

The golden sandy beaches run all along this stretch of the Norfolk coast, and large grassed sand dunes are all that separate the peace and tranquility of the beach from the Beach Road where food, drinks and toilet facilities can be found. The ‘Hemsby Gap’ is a boarded level walkthrough from Beach Road to the beach, making the beach easily accessible for those with pushchairs.

Hemsby Beach is the perfect family destination, be it for the day or the entire holiday!

Winterton Beach

Winterton can be reached via a very pleasant walk of a mile or so.  It’s dog friendly and another great beach and a beautifully quaint village. Visit the great Beach Café or The Fishermans Arms for a cosy pub lunch.

With a vast shore of soft sand and rolling dunes of the National Nature Reserve, it’s worth taking a stroll down to Winterton Beach. The sandy shore is wide and flat, meaning there’s plenty of space to spread out and soak up the sun.

Horsey Gap/Horsey Beach

Famous for its unique seal colony, a visit to Horsey is a must.  Behind the beach you’ll find a breathtaking heather-lined coastal footpath, and in fact this stretch of coastline is part of the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, renowned for its stunning scenery and wildlife. In cooler months from November to February, a colony of grey seals come onto the beach at Horsey to breed. Around half of the world’s population of grey seals can be found in Britain, and the Horsey colony is one of the most accessible ways to see seals and pups in their natural habitat.
